Scott Joplin left a major mark on the musical history of the Show-Me State during his 13 years in Sedalia. Next weekend, Richard Dowling comes to Columbia for a pair of recitals in which he will perform Joplin's entire piano output. Classical 90.5's Trevor Harris interviewed Dowling for a recent episode of Mizzou Music.

There are several new faces in the MU School of Music for the new school year that started two weeks ago. The new Assistant Professor of Orchestra in the MU School of Music is no stranger that program. Barry Ford earlier earned his masters from the institution for which he now works. On a recent episode of Mizzou Music, the Ford visited with Classical 90.5 host Trevor Harris about his memories of and mentors at MU, his conducting favorites and his upcoming work leading the University Philharmonic.

Austrian-born, New York-based composer Georg Haas was in Columbia last week as a Guest Composer at the Mizzou International Composers Festival. Haas was a guest on a recent episode of Mizzou Music.

Last week, the composer Robert Sirota was in town for the premiere of a new work. He sat down with painter and long-time friend Simon Dinnerstein to discuss 'The Fulbright Triptych', a three panel work on display now through the end of the year at Columbia's MU Museum of Art and Archaeology.

American composer Amadeus Regucera is in Columbia this week for a world premiere of his new work, CRVD. Alarm Will Sound premieres Regucera's new work and that of seven other Resident Composers this Saturday. On a recent episode of Mizzou Music, Regucera discussed his experience with the gateway drug that is contemporary music, his influences and technology in his music.
